Master Remote Learning

Smart strategies to succeed in virtual AR & VR game development courses—from your home to the digital frontier.

Study Environment Essentials

Creating the right space makes all the difference in how you absorb and apply new AR/VR concepts. I've found these approaches work wonders for maintaining focus during intense learning sessions.

Dedicated workspace with proper lighting
Environment

Craft Your Learning Zone

Find a quiet spot that's just for learning. I've noticed that having a dedicated space helps my brain switch into "study mode" faster. Add good lighting that doesn't strain your eyes—natural light works best for me, but a proper desk lamp does the trick too. Keep your VR headset nearby but stored safely when not in use.

Routine

Time Blocking Magic

Break your day into focused chunks. I start with 45-minute study blocks followed by 15-minute breaks—works like a charm! Schedule the toughest topics when you're naturally most alert. For AR/VR work, I've found it helps to alternate between conceptual learning and practical application sessions to keep things interesting.

Mindset

Minimize Distractions

Turn off notifications during study time—they're creativity killers! I use the "Do Not Disturb" mode on my phone and close irrelevant browser tabs. Some days I even leave my phone in another room (scary, I know). For immersive learning, consider noise-canceling headphones or ambient background sounds that help you concentrate.

Expert Learning Strategies

Our instructors share their best advice for mastering AR and VR concepts remotely.

AR/VR Learning Expert Anna Kovács

Active Learning Beats Passive Watching

"Don't just watch tutorials—code alongside them! I tell my students to pause videos frequently and try implementing what they just learned. Create small test projects that apply each new concept. The 'explain it to someone else' technique works wonders too—if you can teach a concept, you truly understand it. When I was learning Unity's AR Foundation, I built tiny apps after each lesson. Those mini-projects cemented my knowledge way better than just taking notes."

Connect with Fellow Learners

"Remote learning doesn't mean learning alone. Join our virtual study groups—they've been game-changers for many students. Share your screen during troubleshooting sessions. Be brave and ask questions in forums; that problem you're stuck on? Someone else is probably wondering the same thing. Back when I was learning shader programming for VR, our weekly Discord chats saved my sanity. Those connections will carry you through the toughest concepts."

Productivity Boosters

Small changes that make a big difference in your learning journey.

Take Smart Notes

Forget copying word-for-word. Instead, I sketch diagrams, create concept maps, and write things in my own words. These connections between ideas help enormously when building complex AR/VR projects later. Try the Cornell method—questions on the left, notes on the right, summary at the bottom. I still refer to notes I took this way years ago!

Use the 5-Minute Rule

When motivation hits rock bottom, commit to just 5 minutes of work. That's it! I can't tell you how many times this trick has turned a "not feeling it" day into a productive session. Your brain loves completion—starting is often the hardest part. Once you've begun, continuing feels natural. This works especially well with coding challenges that seem overwhelming at first glance.

Movement Breaks Matter

Stand up every hour! I do quick stretches between study blocks to keep energy levels up. This is extra important when studying VR development—you need that mental freshness to grasp spatial concepts. A short walk outside between difficult topics gives your subconscious time to process information. Some of my best problem-solving insights come during these breaks, not while staring at the screen.
